Imphal, May 21, 2017 (DIPR): Lyricist Huidrom Noren’s lyrical poetry – Karigee Leiramli, a selection of 100 (One Hundred) lyrics was released today at a solemn function at the auditorium of the Meitei Mayek High School, Kongba. Renowned lyricist Thangjam Kora, Sahitya Academy Awardee Poet Thangjam Ibopishak and Eye Surgeon and Sculptor Dr. Leishangthem Tondon who were special guests in the function spoke about the writer and his book.
National Film Awardee on Film Criticism Meghachandra Kongbam stated that a Lyric is different from a Poem. Lyric is enlivened when singer sings the lines. He recalled the immortal texts of Huidrom Noren’s lyrics – Awabada Awaba Piyu, Nungaibada Nungaiba Happu sung by Sanaton Sharma and Nangbu Asum Ningsingduna Leire, Mitkup Khuding Kaoba Ngamdre by Aheibam Shyam in the Manipuri Feature Film – Khonjel (1981) directed by Moirangthem Nilamani.
Sahitya Academy Awardee Novelist B.M. Maisnamba presided over the function. The presentation of Natya Sankirtana – Nimai Sanyas by Thanga Ashangbi Devi entertained the audience of the function. (DIPR)
