MINISTER BISWAJIT CALLS FOR UNITY AMONG PEOPLE TO USHER

Imphal, June 1, 2017 (DIPR): Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit attended the Maha Kumbhabhishekam Festival at the Sree Angala Paramesware and Sree Muneswarar Temple, Moreh this morning.

Speaking to media persons, the Minister said Moreh is considered a Mini India as all communities reside together in the border town. He said the occasion is not only for the South Indian communities residing in the border town but for all communities residing together in the State.

Observing that the occasion is to bring peace and unity in the land, he expressed gratitude to the organisers of the occasion. He continued disunity among the people will only weaken us. The Minister said the people should be united to bring peace and development in the land.

Speaking on the present condition of development in the border town, the Minister said he is “shocked” by the condition of the town, and added, to bring positive changes every entrepreneur, businessman and the locals should work for the collective good so as to bring peace and unity and usher development in the border town. He continued, if the need arise he will apprise the concerned Central authorities on the requirements for developing road, trade and industry in Moreh.

Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri N Ashok Kumar, IAS; Social Welfare Director Smt. Jacintha Lazarus and Transport Director W Arthur also attended the function.

Maha Kumbhabhishekam is a five day long celebration which began on May 29. Minister Biswajit accompanied by MLA of Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency D Korungthang and chairman of ADC Chandel Lukhosei Zou had also attended the ceremony on the evening of May 31. (DIPR)
