Imphal, October 5, 2017 (DIPR): Forests and Environment Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar flagged off a bike rally from Kangla Main Gate today. The rally was organised in connection with the 62nd Wildlife Week Celebration 2017 under the theme “Celebrate Rights of Wildlife”.
Around 50 bikers of Royal Riders Manipur participated in the rally which was organised by the Forest Department. The rally culminated at the Keibul Lamjao National Park in Bishnupur district.
Shri Shambhu Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Forests & Environment), Shri Kereilhouvi Angami, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Head of Forest Force (PCCF & HoFF) along with others Forest officials also attended the flag off ceremony.
The Wildlife Week Celebration is held across the country from October 2 to 8. Government, environmentalists, activists, educators organise different activities to accelerate the awareness of wildlife conservation among people during the week. Schools and educational institutions in different districts also organise various events such as painting competition, essay writing, debate competition for young children with wild life as the theme.
