Imphal, July 8, 2017 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh said that songs and music plays an important role to create a nationalism spirit and helps in national integration of the country. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the two day long musical festival “Kaongamdraba Eshei -a tribute to legendary singers of Manipur” held at Maharaja Chandrakriti Auditorium, Palace Compound, Imphal. The musical festival is organised by All Manipur Matam Eshei Kanglup (AMMIK) in collaboration with Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh said that like The Manipur State Journalists Welfare Scheme, the government in consultation with the Art and Culture Department is planning to introduce a human approach policy or scheme to provide financial help for the welfare of the artists, musicians etc. of the State.
Expressing gratitude to the AMMIK for donating Rs 1 lakh to the CM Relief Fund for the flood victims, Chief Minister said that the State Government has taken up various relief measures and immediate steps have been taken to tackle the recent flood situation of the State. Short duration paddy seed varieties and rice seedlings which can be harvested in just 100 days has been made available for flood hit farmers, he added. He further said that global warming is a threat to the mankind and has brought many serious environmental and social changes in the State as well as in the world.
Highlighting that the new government has introduced various welfare schemes for the people such as Jeevan Praman, Free Dialysis, Free medical diagnosis etc, he said that the government would not give any false promises and is committed to deliver the promises that government made so far to the people.
Mentioning that government seek the love and support of the people to deliver good governance in the State, he stressed that the government is committed to bring visible and practical changes in the system and that change should begin within ourselves. The government is committed to work for development and would try its best to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the State, he assured.
Chief Minister further said that the government’s commitment to work for inclusive development is not a challenge to any political party or individuals but to show the people that the new government is doing something good for the welfare of the people of the State. Everyone of us should concentrate and work with responsibility for the betterment of the society, he added.
On the occasion, The All Manipur Matam Eshei Kanglup (AMMIK) donated Rs. 1 Lakh to the CM Relief Fund for the flood affected people of the State.
Minister for Art and Culture, Shri Y. Jayantakumar Singh, Minister for CAF&PD Shri Karam Shyam Singh, Parliamentary Secretary (Tourism) Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, renowned musicologist and Padmashree Shri L. Birendrakumar attended the function. (DIPR)
