ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON CRITICAL INFORMATION INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION HELD

Imphal, September 8, 2017 (DIPR): Department of Information Technology, Government of Manipur in coordination with National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC), Government of India had conducted a one-day workshop on Critical Information Infrastructure Protection on 8th September, 2017 at the Hotel Classic, Imphal. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri M.H Khan, IAS, Principal Secretary (AR/Relief & Disaster Management/Science & Technology/Fisheries/linked Secretary IT Dept.) as Chief Guest, Shri Kh. Rajen, SIO Manipur State Unit as Guest of Honour, Shri Lokesh Garg, Director, NCIIPC as Guest of Honour and Shri Subhasis Chatterjee, Head SeMT, Manipur as President. Officials from Home, Finance, Transport, Power, PWD, Health, Education, RD&PR, Social Welfare, Election Departments etc had participated in the workshop.

As per IT Act 2000, Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) has been defined as: “Critical Information Infrastructure means the computer resource, the incapacitation or destruction of which, shall have debilitating impact on national security, economy, public health or safety“.

The main objective of the workshop was to improve the understanding and preparedness of the State of Manipur in identification, prevention and generating response and resolution of Cyber Security Threats to Critical Information Infrastructure (CII). Resource persons from NCIIPC including Director, NCIIPC attended the workshop and shared their knowledge/experience on NCIIPC – Its Functions and Duties, Basics of Cyber Hygiene, Mapping of Attack Vectors to NCIIPC Control Guidelines, Framework for evaluation of cyber security on CII and Identification and Notification of CIIs.
