Imphal,9thAugust,2017 (DIPR):Power Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh today expressed dismay with the condition of the Keishampat Power House and instructed the concerned officials to maintain cleanliness in the campus.
Addressing officials of the Manipur State Power Distribution Corporation Limited during a monthly Review Meeting held this evening at the conference hall of his New Secretariat Office, the Minister said he conducted an inspection of the Power House this morning.
Minister Biswajit also said that if required the internal road of the Power House should also be blacktopped. He further expressed the need to install dustbins in the compound and arrange the machineries and equipment systematically. In their reply, concerned authorities of the Power House said they will conduct a cleanliness drive tomorrow.
During the meeting, the Minister instructed the concerned official to shift the transformers lying unused inside the Kangla Fort within two days and said the transformers could be utilised in areas where there is demand for them.
Minister Biswajit also instructed the officials of the Power department in the Secretariat and the company to work in coordination for the betterment of the company.
The meeting also discussed the progress of replacing naked wire with AB Cable so as to prevent leakage of power. Regarding the issue concerned officials said pole erection work has already been initiated in Lamsang area, and transportation of AB cables and Poles have begun for Churachandpur.
On the issue of applications received for power connection, the Minister said there should be no delay in replying to the application. He said no application for connection should be kept pending and the concerned authority should reply to the applications at the earliest.
During the discussion on installation of prepaid meters, Minister Biswajit instructed the officials to conduct awareness campaigns in the hill district on the benefits of installing prepaid meters under the Information Education and Communication fund.
Meanwhile, in a separate Review Meeting with officials of the Manipur State Power Corporation Limited including Managing Director Shri N.Sarat Singh, the Minister also discussed initiatives and projects undertaken by the MPSCL.
During the meeting, the MPSCL officials said installation work of 132 KV Power Substation at Hundung, Ukhrul is completed, however inauguration is pending. The officials also informed that the 132 KV Power Substation at Moreh is almost 80 percent complete and that they are targeting to complete the substation within October. Installation works of other substations at Henglep, Senapati, Tipaimuh, Pherzawl, Kasom Khullen etc were also discussed. (DIPR)
