The state level recitation competition held regularly as a calendar programme at the Langdum Nongpok Ningthou panthoibi community hall has been a great platform for the young students to draw out and enhance their artistic talent and personality. All possible help will be extended to the organisers with a view to make such educational related event more distinct and meaningful from next year, assured Thamarji Karam, MLA Keirao AC.
The state level recitation competition cum prize distribution held on Sunday last was jointly organised by Kangleipak students Association, KSA and Langdum Samaj Sudhar Dal youth club (LSSD/youth club) with Manipur times as the media partner. About 150 students including senior men and women took part in the said competition.
Thamarjit Karam, MLA of Keirao AC, Md. Salam, Member of Kyamgei zilla Parishad, Golmei Kachungna, Member of Bamonkampu zilla parishad, H. Suresh Pradhan of Chanam Sandrok Gram Panchayat and Mutum Romeshchandra, Pradhan of Keirao Gram panchayat graced the function as chief guest, special guest, president and guests of honours respectively.
“With an objective to boost up the inner talents, personality of our students, LSSD youth club in collaboration with KSA have been conducting such an event of state level recitation competition since 2003. We like to make this event the most coveted one among the students of the state by increasing the present rate of cash prizes. However, financial constraint has crippled us towards realizing our dream. It is another great opportunity and pleasure for us that Manipur times, among the media houses in the state, has willingly agreed to work with us as a media partner for the event right from this year,” said Hidam Santa President of LSSD youth club speaking to the gathering.
Students learning in class nursery to class X competed in the three Category A, B and C for the coveted first prize of Rs.3000, second prize Rs.2000 and third prize Rs.1000. Another interesting aspect of the event was the special open category wherein many matured men and women competed hard for the most coveted first prize of Rs.5000, second prize Rs.3000 and third prize Rs.2000.
