Imphal, 2nd May, 2017 (DIPR): Interacting with teachers while inspecting government schools at the Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency, Education, Labour and Employment Minister Th. Radheshyam said teachers should say ‘no’ and stop the construction of school infrastructure if it is done without maintaining proper quality, as it is against the principle and moral values of teachers and a true citizen. Noting the students need good leaders and role models abided by values of principle, he said, voices need to be raised against the wrong.
During the visit in five schools – Sekmaijin Primary School, Dhabali High School (aided), Langmeidong Higher Secondary School, Langmeidong Girl’s High School (aided), The Khoidum Primary School at various locations of the constituency the Minister said though the condition of government schools will be improved, the teachers should also contribute voluntarily towards betterment of school by taking care of school properties or by approaching concern officials. In any proposal for construction or renovation of school, the Minister said a proper reasoning on certain criteria fulfilling necessary requirements to establish a school at an exact location or a locality should be brought to the notice.
Enquiring about school library funds he said it should be utilised only on books giving priority as required for reference not only for students but even for teachers. Speaking about teaching technique, the Minister suggested of accelerated teaching to be introduced which use audio-visual for better understanding of the subject. The quality of government schools need to be improved and thus everyone involve in education need to work as team and set a target to produced the best students within a time frame, so that the hesitation of sending one’s kid in government school could be cured, the Minister added.
Gracing an inaugural function of a newly constructed school building, The A. N. K. English Academy, Langmeidong, the Minister said good schools and institution are a must as education is an important department nurturing mankind, the future of tomorrow. Education these days, he added has become a race running after the marks pressuring the children. Thus, he said children need to be made to feel learning as pleasure and making them realise the real essence of education. Students, teachers and parents, he said are the main three pillars for education and to pave education in the right direction all these three need to come together as team to understand the wants and requirement of the student to make them better for their life ahead.
