TRIPARTITE TALK HELD: NEXT ROUND OF TALKS ON 10TH NOVEMBER

Senapati, October 6, 2017, (DIPR): The Tripartite Talk on district creation issue was held today among the Government of India, Government of Manipur and United Naga Council at DRDA Hall, Senapati District Headquarters as per the formal invitation by Ministry of Home Affairs.

The dialogue has been presiding over by Joint Secretary, (NE), MHA, Government of India right from the inception of the talks held on March 19, 2017. The Government of Manipur was represented by Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister Shri V. Hangkhanlian, Tribals and Hill Areas Development and Fisheries Minister Shri N. Kayisii and Education and Labour and Employment Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam Singh respectively.

In today’s meeting, the United Naga Council (UNC) raised their objection to the constitution of Boundary Commission by the State Government. The State Government representatives agreed to place the objection raised by UNC, before the State Government for further consideration. It was also agreed to that the previous proceedings will be upheld by the party concerned.

The next round of tripartite talk will be held on 10th November, 2017. Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. J. Suresh Babu, Commissioner (Works), K. Radhakumar and Joint Secretary(NE),MHA, Government of India were the official representatives of the Government. President, UNC, Gaidon Kamei, General Secretary, UNC, S. Milan, President, All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur and President, Naga Women’s Union, Asha Wungnam were those representatives representing the UNC.

Leaders from various civil organizations of Nagas were also present in today’s Tripartite Talk .It was the continuation of the recent August 11, 2017 Tripartite Talk which was held at the same place. (DIPR)
