WE MUST KEEP OUR ENVIRONMENT CLEAN – GOVERNOR

Imphal, the 20th September 2017 (DIPR): Increasing and piling of garbage around has deteriorated environment, we must make everybody involved in to keep our area clean. This was stated by Governor of Manipur Dr. Najma Heptullah in a press conference held at Raj Bhavan today.  To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation, Prime Minsiter of India has launched Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd October, 2014, the campaign aims to achieve the vision of a Clean India. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most significant cleanliness campaign by the Govt. of India.

Cleanliness is a very significant necessary to be followed throughout the life by everyone to really enjoy the nature’s beauty by living a healthy and fit life. Cleanliness is really an abstract state of being clean as well as free from dirt. It is very necessary for everyone to understand the importance of cleanliness only then we will be able to keep our state clean.

Governor said that she is working hard for removal of Ithai Barrage, due to this  barrage, the largest lake in the north- east, Loktak lake is shrinking and polluted.  Water can not flow to the down stream. We should convey the message of keeping Loktak lake clean specially to those people living around. Development of the road leading to Loktak lake and communication is vital to attract more tourist.  With proper infrastructure and manpower, water sports, swimming could be done in Loktak lake.

To keep our environment clean, we should extend co-operation to the govt. School children had been invited to Raj Bhavan for painting competition. Seminar and lecture were organised at Raj Bhavan for school children.

We can also develop floriculture which has rich biodiversity in the hill areas. So that it will create job for women specially without destroying biodiversity.

Speaking about Flying Doctors scheme, Governor said  its working on the modality. The scheme is one of its kind and will be very useful for other hill areas in the NE region as the neighbouring states in the area share similar topographical features. Adding that North Eastern Council has allocated Rs 25 crores for the scheme added, the Governor.

The Governor also reiterated the importance of National Anthem saying that everyone must respect and nobody should move while the national anthem is being sung. (DIPR)
