EDUCATION MINISTER INSPECTS SAINIK SCHOOL IMPHAL

Imphal, May 4, 2017 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Th. Radheshyam visited the Sainik School Imphal, Pangei today and inspected portions of the school building affected during the 2016 January 4, earthquake.
During the inspection, the Minister said he will provide all possible help, though he is unable to make any specific promise or assurance at the moment.
He said that his visit today was the part of a survey he had been making with his team of officials to identify the real issues concerning overall infrastructural development of the educational institutes in the State. He continued a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared and submitted to the Central government to seek assistance for the developmental process of educational institutes.
For this purpose certain schools with maximum number of students are being identified in all districts and a proposal will be submitted to the Centre for approval, he said. The Minister said even if the Centre doesn’t approve the proposal in one time, he is confident that the Centre will approve at least one or two components of the proposal in a year which could be implemented in any of the districts.
Once the State Government implements these projects successfully during the stipulated one or two years, we are confident that the Centre will further approve projects to develop educational infrastructure in the State, he said.
During the inspection of the school building, the Minister went inside classrooms, the top floor where the morning Assembly is conducted and hostel rooms which were affected by the earthquake. He also inspected library, computer room and the under construction auditorium having a capacity of 950 students.
The Minister appealed to those concerned to maintain proper quality in their construction work and at the same time suggested that the vast area in and around the auditorium could be utilised with proper planning. He also suggested for landscape beautification and to plant more trees in the available spaces. The Principal and the Vice-Principal of the school submitted a memorandum to the minister.
