IMPHAL, MAY 17, 2017(DIPR): A 2-day Demonstration Workshop on ABC of Film Making was inaugurated by Shri Nilotpal Majumdar, Director, Manipur State Film and Television Institute, Imphal, in presence of Ng. Ngashanngam, President of Tangkhul Music and Film Association, Ukhrul, and Shri Salam Rajesh, Vice President, Film Society of Manipur who were present as Guest of Honour and President of the function, today, at Town Hall, Ukhrul. Around 50 film enthusiasts attended the workshop which was organized by Film Society of Manipur in association with Tangkhul Music and Film Association, Ukhrul, Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Manipur and Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur.
Shri Nilotpal Mazumdar, Director, Manipur State Film and Television Institute, Imphal, Chief Guest of the function said that, the workshop would give a boost to Tangkhul Cinema. He told the participants to know oneself, their people and their environment to relate their stories to others. He also asked the participants to watch films constantly to become a good Film Maker.
Guest of Honour, Ng. Ngashanngam, President of Tangkhul Music and Film Association, Ukhrul, appreciated the venture of Film Society Manipur for organizing such an important Film Workshop with Film Festival in the district.
President of the function, Shri Salam Rajesh, appealed to the participants to learn whatever the film was about during the workshop. He also said that the Film Society of Manipur would organize bigger workshop in collaboration with The Tangkhul Music and Film Association in future to enhance knowledge of the film enthusiast of the district.
During the workshop session, Shri Nilotpal Mazumdar lectured on the importance of cinema for projecting the cultural heritage of one’s community. He also narrated on how a film had to be made and circulated to the masses. Meghachandra Kongbam, President, Film Society of Manipur, delivered lecture about the history of World Cinema, Manipuri Cinema and Tangkhul Cinema. He said that the cinema is the most effective medium of mass communication which a smaller community can tell its story to the whole world. Film has universal language to tell a story to anyone.
Documentary film ‘My Grandpa’s Village’ directed by Alexander Pou, feature film from Myanmar titled ‘Lett Pan’ directed by Wyne, and Thai feature film titled ‘The Overture’ directed by I Vichailak was screened today at the Film Festival. (DIPR)
