Physical And Mental Alertness Needed To Face Any Situation Professionally – Director

Imphal, October 3, 2017(DIPR): The 3rd Batch Commando Refresher Course began at Manipur Police Training College, Pangei in Imphal East District today. The commando units utilized in different districts, selected through a due selection process, are the ones taking part in the refresher course to be conducted for 9 weeks.

R.K. Tutusana, IPS, Director, Manipur Police Training College, Pangei, said that the refresher course of the Manipur Police Commandos is being conducted to give physical and mental alertness to face any situation professionally. Director General of Police, Additional Director General of Police, Manipur, took keen interest in conducting the course as they want the Manipur Police Commando Units to be an extremely fit and a professional unit. It is under their instructions that the refresher course will be conducted in a very different manner from the previous courses. It will be the first move towards a professional commando training, she added.

She also asserted that the commandos are always the first respondent in any crisis. They have to work closely with the general public with the change in time and which is why the refresher course is much needed. This training is mainly given to lessened the inconvenience of the general public. The training of the commandos will give emphasis, not only on physical fitness but also on mental preparation to face the different situations in valley and hill areas, whether it is law and order situation, natural calamities etc., in a professional and systematic manner. This year Commando personnel trained at NSG, Police Officers trained for post bomb task, anti-terrorist in USA, Canada for the last 2-3 years will be utilized as instructors/resource persons for the refresher course, she added. There is also an offing for conducting refresher course of the women platoon considering their aptitude and physical ability, as they are also an important constituent of the Police force.

            Victoria Yengkhom, SP; Shri Sh. Jugeshwar Sharma, MPS, Course Director, MPTC; Instructors of the course and participants of the refresher course were present at the opening function of the Refresher Course. Altogether 80 commandos are taking part in the refresher course. (DIPR)
