6TH STATE OPEN RANKING TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP, 2017 CONCLUDES

Imphal, August 27, 2017 (DIPR): Works Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh has assured to look into the appeal for repairing of the approach road to the Indoor Stadium, DM College Campus, Imphal. The Minister made the assurance today while speaking at the Closing Function of the 6th State Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship, 2017 at the Indoor Stadium, DM College Campus, Imphal.
Addressing the closing function, Minister Shri Biswajit said sports is part of education and that we get to learn many things by playing a sport including discipline.
Assuring all support and cooperation in the effort to take the sport forward in the State, the Minister also observed that the government alone couldn’t bring the change. He said government needs cooperation of the public to do so.
Minister Biswajit also assured to look into appeals of the association that include repairing of the approach road to the Indoor Stadium and construction of a Table Tennis stadium. Regarding selection of site for the stadium, the Minister asked the association concerned to apprise him if there is any issue so that the concerned Minister may be consulted to settle the issues.
We need an initiative to bring any change in the society, the Minister observed and urged the people to take up the initiative.
The Minister also made an appeal to conduct a cleanliness drive in the stadium complex and its surrounding areas.
Today’s closing function was also attended by DTTA, IE President Shri Mangsatabam Gojendra Singh as president and JNIMS Director Prof. Th. Bhimo Singh and MTTA President Shri H.Devshekhar Sharma (IAS retd.) as Guests of Honour.
Minister Biswajit and the other dignitaries also handed out the prizes to the winners of the championship.
The championship, which began on August 23, 2017, was organised by the District Table Tennis Association, Imphal East under the auspices of the Manipur Table Tennis Association. (DIPR)
