Hon’ble Chief Minister, Manipur today attended the launch of Football Balloon in Connaught Place, New Delhi as Chief Guest. The function was organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports during the occasion of India being, host to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup India 2017 from 6th to 28th October 2017.
The function was graced by Shri Vijay Goel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (IC) for Sports, famous Cricketer Md. Kaif and Shri Vijender Singh, Boxer among others.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for recognising the Football talent of Manipur by inviting him to the event. He also expressed hope that sometime in near future the Manipur could also be the venue for FIFA.
On the occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister emphasised the need to tap the immense talent possessed by India. Football is an extremely useful sport for physical fitness. He also said that in modern times of fast food, unhealthy life style and huge pressure on academic performance, we need to emphasis on physical fitness of children in India. Football is a great and cheap way to promote physical fitness.
Further, he informed that recently it has been decided to start a Chief Minister’s Football Cup in Manipur in the name of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya from this year. He also urged the State Cabinet colleagues, MLA & MPs of Manipur to encourage Football in their respective constituencies.
Shri Vijay Goel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (IC) for Sports expressed his thanks to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Manipur for gracing the occasion. He said that since Manipur did not approach earlier to host this event, this FIFA could not be organised at Imphal. But in future, he would definitely see to it that the event is also organised in Imphal. (DIPR)
