CM ANNOUNCES ECONOMIC PACKAGE OF RS 185 CRORE FOR KANGPOKPI THE NEW GOVERNMENT OPENS ITS DOOR 24X7 FOR THE PEOPLE: N. BIREN SINGH

Imphal, April 26, 2017 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh today announced an economic package of Rs 185 crore for development of Kangpokpi District. This was stated by him at the Felicitation cum Blessing ceremony organised by Kuki Inpi and CSOs of Kangpokpi District held at Brig. M. Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi.

Addressing at the august gathering, Shri N. Biren Singh said that the new government opens its door 24X7 to the people so that the grievances and issues can be discussed with the government or the concerned ministers on time. The new government is committed to upholding a transparent and accountable government so as to make a corruption free state, he added.

Shri N. Biren Singh further said, “What we need in the state is to change our mindset and outlook so that no ethnic difference should be there among the various communities living in the state”.

He also urged the people to unite against any vested interest based on religion or ethnic lines. He stressed that the new government adopts a humanity approach and is prioritising in health, education and infrastructural sectors so as to have an inclusive development in both hills and valley of the state.

To monitor the various developmental works in each district, Chief Minister said that the government would assign Principal Secretaries to supervise the District Commissioners to have better governance in hill districts of the state.

Announcing an economic package of Rs 185 crores for the district, Shri N. Biren Singh stated that the package includes construction of a women’s market at estimated cost of Rs 10 crores, setting up of ITI (Rs. 9.5 crores), construction of Sadbhavna Mandop (Rs. 2.5 crores), opening of Tribal Girls’ Hostel (Rs. 2.25 crores) and construction of a Guest House (Rs. 2 crores) to name a few.

Speaking at the function, Minister for IPR, PWD, RD&PR Shri Th. Biswajit Singh said that the inauguration of District Information Office, Kangpokpi is the need of the hour so that the government policies and developmental programmes would be disseminated through this office. The main objective is to bridge the gap between the government and its people. He further said that various policies regarding the working journalist would be revised such as pension schemes, ex-gratia etc.

Under the Prathan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin “Housing for All” schemes, the Minister said, the Central government has already sanctioned 51 crores to build thousands of pucca houses in the state. He assured that the un-electrified villages of the state would be electrified by 2019 and MANIREDA units would be installed in off-power areas. He further stressed that every district would have a district Handloom and Handicraft Centre which would be providing training, skill development and employment opportunities to the people.

Radhakishore, Parliamentary Secretary (Home) Shri L. Sushindro, Parliamentary Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Shri S. Subhaschandra, Parliamentary Secretary (MAHUD) Shri N. Indrajit, Parliamentary Secretary (Education) Shri K. Robindro, Parliamentary Secretary (RD& PR) Shri H. Dingo, Parliamentary Secretary (PHED) Shri K. Leishiyo, Parliamentary Secretary (IT) Dr. Sapam Ranjan and Parliamentary Secretary (IFCD) Shri L. Rameshwor Meetei were also present at the occasion.

During the function, traditional Gong, shawls and bouquets were gifted to the Chief Minister. As a part of the programme, various cultural programmes were also showcased by different communities. (DIPR)
