Imphal, May 18th, 2017 (DIPR): Education, Labour and Employment Minister Shri Th. Radheshyam said language and script can set and define the standard of a society. He was speaking on the 11th Mayek Chatpa Numit 2017 as chief guest oragnised by Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasilol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) at G.M. Hall, imphal. The minister also launched the website of MEELAL www.meelal.org.
He said the challenge of non availability of books for the student pursuing graduation in Meitei Mayek will be made available on the website as softcopy where everyone can access to read the books. Pointing out the need of time for the books to be made available Meitei Mayek, he said, books in Bengali script need to be converted in Meitei Mayek so that the children who are now known to Meitei Mayek could access the rich literature of Manipuri Literature of Manipur.
For such huge challenge of conversion of Bengali script to Manipuri books in Meitei Mayek the minister urged the people of state to come together and worked out together.
In the programme Dr. K. Sushila, Director Art & Culture, Dr. L. Mahabir Singh, Director Lanaguage and Planning and implementation and other officials and oragnising committee were also present. The minister also distributed prizes to the winners of Meitei Mayek competition. (DIPR)
