NURSES ARE THE PILLAR OF HEALTH CARE: V. HANGKHANLIAN

Imphal, May 18, 2017 (DIPR): International Nurses Week Celebration under the theme “Nursing: A Voice to Lead-Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” was held at Jubilee Hall, RIIMS, Lamphelpat, Imphal, today. Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister V. Hangkhanlian attended as Chief Guest of the function which was organised jointly by The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) and Student Nurses Association (SNA), Manipur State Branch. In his speech, Minister Hangkhalian said that nurses are the pillar, skeleton, part and parcel in the health care sector of humanity. He appreciated those nurses for choosing nurse as a profession and encouraged to serve with dedication and take care of the poor and needy patients. Go forward, keep it up and should not forget the great contributions made by Florence Nightingale, the lady of the lamp, in caring of the sick peoples, he added.

Attending the function as President, Parliamentary Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Shri Soibam Subhashchandra Singh said, the new government proposed to give the Best Nurse Award to the best nurse workers from this year to enhance and strengthening the duty of nurses towards sick persons and increase the bond of love between nurses and the patients.

Former Deputy Nursing Superintendent, RIMS and former Vice President, TNAI, Manipur Branch, Smt. Ng Binodini Devi encouraged the nurse community saying that during treatment of the patients positive thinking and good observation should be maintained, keep on a smiling face and show sincerity to the patients for their satisfaction that would bear accurate success in the work of humanity.

Director RIMS, Shri R.K. Dinesh Singh, IAS, Director of Medical & Health Services, Dr. Karam Lokendro Singh, Former Deputy Nursing Superintendent, RIMS, Former Vice-President, TNAI, Manipur Branch also attended the function as Guests of Honour respectively and gave encouragement to the trainees.

The Chief Guest and other dignitaries distributed prizes to the first rank holders of various events which were held during the observation week. Among others, doctors, nurses, students of the nursing colleges also attended the function. (DIPR)
