EDUCATION MINISTER VISITS SCERT AND EDUCATION (S)

Imphal, 1st June 2017 (DIPR): After taking in chargeofEducation Minister Shri Th. Radheshyam, for the first time during twenty years visited to the Directorate of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and the Directorate of Education (S), today. He also held a meeting with the officials at Lamphel. Various topics on how to improve the prevailing conditions of the education system of the state were discussed in the meeting.

The Minister said salary for teachers and scholarships of the students are two major concerns needed to be redressed as soon as possible as both have direct impact on the field of education. He assured the salary of the teachers and scholarships of the students will be sanctioned on time without fail. For timely sanction of the fund allotted, he said, he will discuss to the Chief Minister so that the disbursement of salary and scholarship could be carried out.

For those employees and teachers on attestation/deputation in the offices, he asked the officials to find out their requirements and make sure their necessities are available, to encourage them carry out their duty productively and to enhance the functioning of the department. He suggested of appointing officials who can guide the public in addressing their problems and grievances in the official works. This will help in building a good relationship with the public. To fasten the official procedures and for better functioning, suggestions were brought up for the need to distribute the work load evenly among the employees and officials.

He emphasised on the need to set a time frame for various departmental related work like the pension services, posting / transfer related file process of the employees, and the MGEL service. Such task should be completed on time, he strictly warned. He also cautioned the officials against the harassment faced by the public. He expressed his desire to set a goal for improving the performances of the government high schools and higher secondary schools of the state.

The newly appointed director of Education (S) Th. Kiran Kumar Singh also suggested for the need to digitalise all the service records of the teachers and all the employees. Further, he said this somehow can improve the functioning of the department and stop the manipulation of official records and lessen the activities that involve corruption. He also recommended that if all their records be linked through digitalisation even the biometrics attendance then the service can be overall supervised.

Promotional avenue, rules and regulations for the promotion of the staffs were discussed also in the meeting minutely. He also made a round check of the infrastructural condition of both the offices. (DIPR)
