He interacted with the officials of Works Department, contractor handling the renovation/reconstruction work and women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel.

Addressing mediapersons, the Minister said, the Works Department as well as the contractor have assured that after completion of renovation/reconstruction work Ima Keithel buildings will be handed over to the MAHUD Department on the day of Phairen Manchami on January 22, 2018.

Th. Shyamkumar said, the Ima Keithel will be re-inaugurated after consulting the women vendors of the Khwairamband Keithel. MAHUD Minister also said, he feels the pain and understands the anger of the women vendors, who have been demanding the Government to complete the renovation work at the earliest.

He said, the MAHUD Department has already sanctioned Rs 21 crore to the Works Department regarding the renovation/reconstruction work. The department is ready to allocate additional fund if necessary, assured the Minister.

During inspection, MAHUD Minister asked the contractor whether lack of fund was causing the delay in the completion of the renovation/reconstruction work. The contractor said, as the damage was intense the renovation/reconstruction work is done with help of all the latest technical support. (DIPR)
