IMPHAL, May 17th 2017, (DIPR): The Minister for Social Welfare and Cooperation Smt. Nemcha Kipgen today assures better and up-to-date infrastructures for Government Ideal Blind School, Government Deaf & Mute School, Government Legal Aid Clinic/ School and Observation & Special Home for Juvenile in conflict with law at Takyelpat during a surprise inspection to the said locations.
During the spot inspection at the institutions, Smt. Nemcha Kipgen witnessed the various loopholes and drawbacks. She checked the dilapidated conditions like seepage, water leakage from the ceiling or roof, construction of common hall atop the condemned building, flooring, hostel buildings, kitchen, electricity problem, drinking water supply/tank and poor drainage system in and around the institutions. The security post and fencing wall at the Observation & Special Home for Juvenile in conflict with law was also inspected.
Addressing the media, the Minister urged the heads of the institutions to submit a written proposal of whatever is required to be done for the institutions and the problems they are currently facing. She makes sure that the Braille machine which is an essential medium for education of the blind school will be replace with the new one. She also stated that the beds and furniture used at the hostels are all in bad shape and should be replace with new ones at the earliest. She strictly instructs the Heads and in-charge of the institutions to consider the students and those in juvenile home as their own children and to keep the institutions in a hygienic condition.
The heads of the institutions expressed their gratitude towards the Minister for personally visiting the institutions to check the various shortcomings presently faced by them. (DIPR)
