IMPHAL, JUNE 22, 2017 (DIPR): MAHUD Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar today said a new policy on sale of meat will be made soon prohibiting open sale of meat on the roadside under Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) areas.
Speaking to media-persons at his office in New Secretariat, Minister Th. Shyamkumar said Manipur is like a mini India comprising of people of different faith and beliefs. He said every people of different community must show respect to each other.
Requesting meat sellers to procure licence and sell the meat at suitable place, Shyamkumar further said the State Government will strictly monitor on open sale of meat and make a new policy in consultation with various stakeholders, including Veterinary and Health departments so that it can be sold maintaining hygiene and at a proper place.
Stating the State Government had earlier informed on various guidelines to the vendors who sell meat in places under IMC area, Minister Shyamkumar said there is no restriction on consumption on meat by any community of the State as India is a secular and a democratic country. (DIPR)
