Imphal, 18th July, 2017 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Th. Radheshyam said, one should be satisfied in ones job engaging themselves to render the best they could for the upliftment and well being of the society. Thus, fulfilling the duty will automatically bring happiness to ones life, he added.
The Minister was speaking at the 1st Manipur Social Work Practitioners Congress under the theme ‘Social Work Profession and Challenges’ at Association of Professional Social Workers Secretariat, Singjamei.
He said, there is a vast difference between happiness and pleasure despite having all the pleasures one may not be happy while one may be happy without a minute pleasure in life. To be happy, a person should enjoy their job fulfilling their duties and be satisfied of having the job through which they will be able to contribute for the betterment of the society, he added.
He said, development as per the motto of Modi’s ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ means a collective effort towards inclusive growth to work for the improvement of the most deprived and downtrodden section of the society. Social Work is a very noble profession for it is dedication to work, helps and assists in uplifting the most needy. It is the path of Mother Teresa, the richest beggar of the world, who dedicated her whole life to helping the needy, and one should feel proud to have taken this profession following her footstep, he said.
To work as social worker, he emphasise on the need to have good communication skill. As professionals, who will be counselling the clients, ice breaking exercise to be able to remain calm and compose is a must to make the clients comfortable and gain their trust enabling to help them out. He encourages the gathering to become a solution rather than be part of the problem.
The Minister was highlighted about the need to introduce Mental Health Service at District Hospital and Primary Health Centres. Prisoner Welfare Service to provide a correctional service to the prisoner to bring them back to the mainstream life was also brought up for implementation at Manipur prisons.
The function was organised by the APSW with the main objectives to discuss the various fields of intervention of the social work professionals and the challenges they faced in the state and about the projects / programmes to be undertaken. Education, Labour and Employment Minister Shri Th. Radheshyam Singh and Chairperson, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Right MCPCR Shri S. Saratkumar Sharma, were also felicitated.
