IMPHAL, JUNE 27, 2017 (DIPR): Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Shri Karam Shyam today said that, the State Level Pineapple Festival will help in creating awareness that pineapple farming can also be a source of livelihood. He was speaking as the Chief Guest on the Day 3, of the 10th State Level Pineapple Festival cum Sellers and Buyers Meet and Youth Festival, 2017 held at Thambalnu Market Complex, Poiroupat, Lamkhai, Andro Assembly Constituency. The festival is jointly organised by Horticulture Department, Government of Manipur and Development Organisation Andro Kendra under the funding of North eastern Council (NEC), Government of India.
The Minister also said as a Cabinet minister he will fully support and help any decision taken up for establishing an industry/factory in the State which will benefit the local population. He said to develop our State we all must work with honesty, sacrifice and hard labour. The new government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh is committed to serve the people and fulfil its duties towards the public in the next 5 (five) years, he added.
Minister Karam Shyam congratulated MAHUD, TP, Forest & Environment, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Shri Th. Shyamkumar who is also the MLA for Andro A/C for organising the festival with full involvement of the youth from the area. He said the youth are the pillars of our future and we must encourage the youth in their endeavours.
Dance troupes gave cultural dance performances and acrobatic show enthralling the audience. The festival was also attended by Chief Conservator of Forest Shri Mahendra Pratap, Chief Engineer, PWD Shri Ch. Tiken Singh and Project Manager, District handlooms & Textiles, Imphal East Smt. P.
