SEMINAR ON RIGHT TO INFORMATION HELD

Kangpokpi, October 7, 2017 (DIPR): A One Day District Level Seminar as a part of the Celebration of Right to Information Week-2017 (October 5-10) was held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi today.

The seminar was organised by Manipur Information Commission in collaboration with the District Administration, Kangpokpi District.

Shri Th. Ibobi Singh, State Chief Information Commissioner, Manipur, Shri T. Ranjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi and Shri M. Pradip Singh, Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi were the Chief Guest, the President and the Guest of Honour respectively.

The Chief Guest spoke on “the role of Manipur Information Commission towards providing information to citizen” while in the academic session, resource persons Dr. Ch. Narendra Singh, Sr. Advocate and Shri S. Inao Singh, Deputy Registrar (Jydicial-I) spoke on “The concept of RTI” and “The responsibility of the PIO and FAA” respectively.

In the interactive session, the participants discussed various aspects of RTI, the problems which the RTI is facing, strategy to establish people’s right to know and solutions of the problems in effective implementation of the Act etc.

Public leaders, Social Workers, Representatives of CSOs, NGOs, DLOs and students of JNV, Kangpokpi also participated in the seminar. (DIPR)
