STATE GOVERNMENT MONITORING ALL SUSPECTED OUTBREAKS OF H1N1 VIRUS: HEALTH MINISTER

Imphal, 29th July, 2017 (DIPR): State Health Minister Shri L.Jayentakumar has today told the House that the State Health department is fully concerned and monitoring the suspected outbreak of H1N1 virus in Henglep Sub-division. He said that two doctors have been posted at Henglep Sub-Division.

Replying to a Calling Attention Motion raised by Opposition MA K Ranjit Singh regarding the suspected outbreak of H1N1 virus in Henglep Sub-Division, the Minister said the government is fully concerned with the suspected outbreak. He said altogether 41 individuals with suspected cases of H1N1 including 31 children have reached Churachandpur District Hospital and have been placed under medical observation.

Observing that due to the incessant rain in the State in recent times, road communication has been badly hit in Henglep Sub-division, the Minister said at present another 50 individuals with suspected cases of H1N1 are still in Henglep Sub-division. He further said that the government is also considering feasibility of airlifting the individuals, so that they could be brought under proper medical observation.

Regarding declaration of the outbreak to be epidemic, the Minister said declaring the outbreak epidemic at this juncture could create undue panic among the people. He continued the government is fully prepared and have enough stock of medicines to combat any outbreak of the H1N1 in the State.

The Minister also observed that isolated wards are opened at both the JNIMS and RIMS. (DIPR)
