The inspection team led by the TD Minister surveyed the affected and vulnerable areas of the Kalikhola Village that has been recently damaged by the landslide and cracks that developed subsequently. Later, the TD Minister visited the temporary relief camp opened at Goma Devi High School, Toribari.

While sharing his grief with the affected victims, N. Kayisii stated that he was really shocked by the news of the calamity that has affected and destructed the Kalikhola Village, which is one of the old villages of his constituency. The Minister assured maximum help for the affected villagers from his side. He appreciated the village authority and Deputy Commissioner for their co-operation and support towards the victims. He further instructed the Deputy Commissioner to put up a report of the affected village at the earliest so that he can consult with the Chief Minister for proper rehabilitation of the villagers.

Kayisii also handed over 3 Lakh rupees to the Village Chaiman of Kalikhola for temporary relief of affected victims. Relief materials including water, rice, potato, dal, oil, salt, utensils, blankets, etc, were also handed over to the affected villagers from the side of the Department of TA & Hills. The TD Minister also stated that he will meet the Chief Minister in the evening to discuss the matter for early rehabilitation of the affected villagers.

Deputy Commissioner T. Ranjit stated that since such natural calamity could not be predicted, there is fear that the whole Kalikhola Village is still vulnerable to further disaster. He appealed the villagers not to move around the affected areas and not stay inside the vulnerable houses which are yet to be affected by the landslide. The DC further stated that since Kangpokpi is a newly created district, there is difficulty in providing necessary relief materials and other facilities that can be given to the affected villagers. He however assured any logistic support from the side of the district administration.
