IMPHAL, April 22 (DIPR): Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Shri Letpao Haokip today inspected the progress of various works taken up for upgradation of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
The Minister – accompanied by Commissioner (YAS) Shri H. Deleep Singh, Project Director of Manipur Development Society (MDS) Shri Y. Ningthem, other officials of YAS and engineers of MDS – inspected the ongoing constructions of gallery at Artificial Turf, Auditorium, National Sports Academy, Aquatic Complex, Hockey Stadium, new Sports Hostel, Weightlifting hall and Indoor Stadium at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of the work execution, YAS Minister Shri Letpao Haokip issued strict instructions to the officials concerned to speed up the works and ensure their completion at an earliest date.
During the inspection, it was brought to the knowledge of the Minister that the filtration plant at the Aquatic complex was not in working condition. The Minister instructed the concerned officials to immediately make the filtration plant functional.
The Minister was also optimistic that many more world-class sports persons can be produced from the State if necessary amount of attention is paid on sports infrastructure development.
