Imphal, April 21, 2017 (DIPR): A nine-member team of All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) today called on Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh at his office chamber.
The ATSUM members led by its president John R Hmar presented a Hmar traditional shawl to the Chief Minister during the meeting which was also attended by Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister Shri V. Hangkhanlian, Tribal and Hill Areas Development and Fisheries Minister Shri N. Kayisii and Thanlon AC MLA Shri Vungzagin Valte.
During the meeting, Shri N. Biren reiterated his commitment of bringing development in the hill areas of the State.
He urged the members of the students’ body to bury all the differences and concentrate on bringing development.
Stating that construction of women’s markets in hill district headquarters would commence soon, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is also planning to take up an ambitious project of rainwater harvesting in the hill districts.
He also urged the ATSUM members to join hand with the State Government in approaching the Centre towards transforming Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Campus, Makhan as an institution of excellence in education and research.
The Chief Minister also assured to include some of the developmental projects mentioned by ATSUM in the 20-points priority list to be forwarded to NEC. (DIPR)
